Games, Assignments, Assessment Tasks & Additional ResourcesOne of the most important yet challenging parts of this course is the need to give students an overview of the Bible's story. From day one we want them to see that the Bible tells one grand story, a story they are invited to come and take their place in. From the outset we want to bury notions that the Bible is a collection of random religious stories or that its message is boring.
This presentation has been put together to help you take students through the story of the Bible at the start of the course. When you see how long it is don't panic! A lot of screen shots only have one line of text on them. The best way to present it is to move quickly through the slides. You may want to allow 1-2 periods to go through it with your class.
It is good to tell students they don't have to remember everything that is in the presentation. You may also find that a lot of students want to talk about slides as they make connections for the first time or engage with parts of the Bible's story that have not been told to them before.
You can download the Power Point file for free (click on the button above), play the presentation here or embed the presentation on your website/moodle page using the settings from AuthorStream.
We anticipate having this resource availalbe in additional media soon.
The following example came from a Year 10 student in 2011. After setting the assignment for the students the teacher was overwhelmed by the work the students submitted and how effective the assignment was for helping to consolidate the students' knowledge of the Bible.
This game encourages students to place significant Bible events in order and work towards being able to tell the story of the Bible in a clear and concise way. This resource has been updated since last year. The file is ready to go so you can print up the cards and run the activity with your class.

The Power Point presentation below will help you show the students what order they should have. If you would like to download the Power Point click here.
